Terengganu is one of the three east coast states of Peninsular Malaysia. Covering an area of 12,995 sq km, it is bordered by the states of Kelantan and Pahang on the north west and south west, and by the South China Sea on the east.

Climate of Terengganu is 'tropical monsoon'. The days are generally dry and warm with humidity between 82% and 86%. Malaysia, being an equatorial country, experiences afternoon rain showers throughout the year, which cools the day. During the monsoon season, between the months of November through January, there is an increase in the frequency of these showers.

Terengganu's economy is mainly fishing, agriculture and off-shore oil and gas industries. The main airport is Kuala Terengganu Airport, a 40 minute drive from Terengganu International Endurance Park.

Tourism is an important industry in Terengganu. The year 2008 has been announced as Visit Terengganu Year . There will be a massive campaign lasting the whole year to welcome tourists to the east coast of Malaysia. Said the chief minister of Terengganu, "With a smile on our face and a song on our lips, we hereby welcome you to come visit us here in Terengannu and we fully intend to make you our guest of honour.
